Step 1 – Enroling and Attending the 2 Day Driver Training Program 

Our training course is designed to give you the best possible start to your taxi driving career.  The course covers the essential skills and knowledge you will need including driver safety, communications equipment, financial transactions, wheelchair and passengers with special needs.

Applicants are required to have a level of speaking, reading, writing, listening and numeracy skills that meet Gold Coast Cabs standards. Applicants will be assessed during the course.

Step 2 - Obtaining a Taxi Driver Authorisation (DA) from Qld Transport and Main Roads

To be eligible to obtain a Driver Authorisation (DA)

You must be over 20 years of age

You must be entitled to work in Australia

You must hold an Australian issued Open Driver’s Licence continuously for a minimum of 12 months

You must have a satisfactory criminal history record

You must obtain a current Medical Certificate for Motor Vehicle Driving from your local General Practitioner (GP) (at your own expense)

Be able to speak and understand English

Successfully complete a taxi driving course
